Coherent
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004270
Describing seismic waves or events that exhibit a consistent phase relationship between different traces or over a specific distance. Coherent signals, such as reflections from a continuous geological layer, align predictably across multiple receiver locations. In contrast, random noise is incoherent, showing no systematic alignment from one trace to the next.
