Source point

The location on the Earth's surface or within a borehole where a seismic energy source is activated to generate waves for subsurface imaging. This point marks the origin of the seismic waves that travel into the earth and reflect or refract off geological layers. Common seismic sources include vibrators, dynamite, air guns, and weight drops.
