Relating to or caused by vibrations within the Earth, often generated artificially for subsurface imaging. These vibrations, or seismic waves, propagate through different rock layers and are recorded by sensors at the surface. The analysis of seismic data provides information about geological structures and potential hydrocarbon reservoirs.
