Dynamite
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001232
An explosive material historically and sometimes currently used as a seismic energy source, particularly in land seismic surveys. It is detonated in shallow boreholes to generate a strong, impulsive seismic wave that propagates into the subsurface. While effective, its use is restricted due to safety and environmental concerns, leading to the increased use of vibrators.
