Sodium chromate

A chemical compound, Na2CrO4, historically used as a corrosion inhibitor in drilling fluids, particularly in brine systems. It forms a protective film on metal surfaces to prevent rust and degradation of drilling equipment. Due to environmental concerns, its use has largely been replaced by less toxic alternatives.
