Brine
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000462
Water saturated or nearly saturated with dissolved salts, primarily sodium chloride, found naturally in subsurface formations or produced during oil and gas operations. It can be a byproduct of hydrocarbon extraction or injected into reservoirs for pressure maintenance and enhanced oil recovery. Brine density and salinity are key parameters for drilling fluid design and formation evaluation.
