Produced water

Water that is brought to the surface along with oil and gas during production operations, originating from the reservoir formation itself or from injected fluids. This water often contains dissolved salts, hydrocarbons, and other chemicals, requiring treatment before disposal or reuse. Produced water is the largest volume byproduct of oil and gas extraction.
