Free gas

Natural gas that exists in a gaseous state within a reservoir, not dissolved in oil or water. This gas accumulates in the pore spaces of the rock and can be produced directly without requiring separation from liquids. It is distinct from dissolved gas, which comes out of solution as pressure drops during production.
