Producing formation

A geological rock layer or zone within a reservoir that contains economically recoverable hydrocarbons and from which a well is actively extracting oil or gas. This formation is the primary target for drilling and completion activities. Its characteristics, such as permeability and porosity, dictate the well's productivity.
