Spherical wave
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003540
A wave that propagates outwards in all directions from a point source, with its wavefronts forming concentric spheres. The amplitude of a spherical wave decreases with distance from the source due to the spreading of energy over an increasing area. In seismic exploration, explosive sources generate spherical waves that are then recorded by geophones.
