Tube wave

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003931

A guided wave that propagates along the borehole wall, generated by the interaction of seismic waves with the fluid in the wellbore. It is a low-frequency, high-amplitude wave that travels at the speed of sound in the borehole fluid. Tube waves are recorded on sonic logs and can interfere with the interpretation of formation properties, requiring suppression or removal during processing.
