Stoneley wave
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003630
A type of guided wave that propagates along the interface between a fluid and a solid, or along the wall of a fluid-filled borehole. These waves are dispersive, meaning their velocity depends on frequency, and they are sensitive to the properties of both the fluid and the formation. Stoneley waves are used in acoustic logging to evaluate permeability and formation damage.
