Love wave
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002223
A type of surface seismic wave that propagates by horizontal shear motion, perpendicular to the direction of wave propagation and parallel to the Earth's surface. These waves are dispersive, meaning their velocity depends on frequency, and they are typically generated by earthquakes. Love waves are used in shallow seismic surveys to characterize near-surface shear wave velocity structures.
