Q-wave
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003025
Another name for a Love wave, a surface wave in which particle motion is horizontal and perpendicular to the direction of travel. The Q comes from the German word Querwellen, meaning transverse waves, and contrasts with the R used for Rayleigh waves. Love waves are dispersive, so their speed depends on frequency.
