Body wave
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000395
A type of seismic wave that travels through the interior of a medium, such as the Earth's crust, mantle, or core. There are two main types: P-waves (primary or compressional waves) and S-waves (secondary or shear waves), which differ in their particle motion and propagation speed. Body waves are used to image subsurface structures in seismic exploration.
