Love wave
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007052
A type of surface wave in seismology that causes horizontal shearing motion perpendicular to the direction of wave propagation. These waves are dispersive, meaning their speed depends on their frequency, and they are guided by the Earth's surface layers. Love waves are generated by earthquakes and travel faster than Rayleigh waves, another type of surface wave.
