Eddy shearing stress
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005274
The turbulent transfer of momentum within a fluid, arising from the correlation between fluctuations in horizontal and vertical wind components. It represents the frictional force exerted by turbulent eddies on adjacent layers of fluid. This stress is a key component in the momentum budget of the atmospheric boundary layer and is often parameterized using a drag coefficient.
