Frictional skin drag
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005796
The component of frictional drag that arises from the viscous shear stress at the interface between the moving air and the Earth's surface. It is directly related to the roughness of the surface and the wind speed. This force is a primary mechanism for the transfer of momentum from the atmosphere to the ground.
