Frictional force
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005795
A force that opposes the relative motion between the atmosphere and the Earth's surface, or between different layers of air. This force acts to slow down wind speeds and modify wind direction, particularly within the planetary boundary layer. It is a non-conservative force that dissipates kinetic energy into heat.
