Skin-friction coefficient

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008917

A dimensionless quantity that relates the skin friction drag per unit area to the dynamic pressure of the fluid flow. It quantifies the local frictional resistance between a fluid and a surface, such as air flowing over the Earth's surface or an aircraft wing. This coefficient is a key parameter in boundary layer theory and is used in atmospheric modeling.
