Discharge coefficient
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005047
A dimensionless ratio that relates the actual flow rate of a fluid through an orifice, nozzle, or other flow-restricting device to the theoretical flow rate. This coefficient accounts for energy losses due to friction and contraction of the fluid stream. Values typically range from 0.6 to 1.0, with 1.0 representing ideal flow.
