Activity coefficient

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003281

A dimensionless factor that relates the activity of a chemical species to its concentration in a non-ideal solution. It quantifies the deviation from ideal behavior, where interactions between molecules are negligible. This coefficient is often used in atmospheric chemistry to correct equilibrium calculations for dissolved gases and aerosols.
