Skin drag
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008915
The frictional force exerted on a surface by a fluid, such as air, moving across it. This drag is caused by the viscosity of the fluid and the transfer of momentum between the fluid layers and the surface. In meteorology, it is a component of the total drag experienced by the atmosphere moving over the Earth's surface, influencing the wind profile in the boundary layer.
