Viscous drag
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010029
The resistive force experienced by an object moving through a fluid, or by a fluid flowing over a surface, due to the fluid's viscosity. This force arises from the internal friction within the fluid and between the fluid and the object's surface, converting kinetic energy into heat. For laminar flow around a sphere, Stokes' Law describes the viscous drag force.
