Viscous fluid
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010030
A fluid that exhibits internal resistance to flow, meaning it deforms continuously under applied shear stress. Air, while often considered inviscid in large-scale atmospheric models, behaves as a viscous fluid at smaller scales and near boundaries. Its viscosity leads to phenomena like friction and the transfer of momentum between layers.
