Viscosity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010027
A measure of a fluid's resistance to flow, arising from internal friction between its constituent particles. In the atmosphere, it describes how readily air deforms under shear stress, influencing the dissipation of kinetic energy in turbulent flows. The dynamic viscosity of air at standard atmospheric pressure and 15 degrees Celsius is approximately 1.8 x 10^-5 Pascal-seconds.
