Eddy viscosity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005276
A coefficient that quantifies the apparent viscosity of a turbulent fluid, arising from the transfer of momentum by turbulent eddies. It is analogous to molecular viscosity but is typically many orders of magnitude larger, reflecting the enhanced momentum exchange due to turbulent mixing. This parameter is used in numerical models to represent the frictional effects of turbulence.
