Reynolds stresses
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008568
The components of the total stress tensor that arise from the turbulent fluctuations of fluid velocity in a mean flow. These stresses represent the transport of momentum by turbulent eddies and are a key concept in the study of atmospheric boundary layer dynamics. They are typically expressed as products of fluctuating velocity components, such as the covariance of horizontal and vertical velocity.
