Coefficient of eddy viscosity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004478

A parameter representing the enhanced momentum transfer due to turbulent eddies in a fluid, analogous to molecular viscosity. It quantifies the effective viscosity of a turbulent fluid, which is significantly larger than its molecular viscosity. This coefficient is used in atmospheric models to parameterize the effects of turbulence on mean flow.
