Viscosity coefficient
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010028
A quantitative measure of a fluid's resistance to shear flow, often denoted by the Greek letter mu (μ) for dynamic viscosity or nu (ν) for kinematic viscosity. Dynamic viscosity relates shear stress to the rate of shear strain, while kinematic viscosity is dynamic viscosity divided by density. For air at standard atmospheric conditions, the dynamic viscosity is approximately 1.8 x 10^-5 Pa·s.
