Newtonian fluid
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007532
A fluid whose viscosity remains constant regardless of the shear rate applied to it. The shear stress within the fluid is directly proportional to the rate of shear strain. Water and air are examples of Newtonian fluids under most atmospheric conditions, contrasting with non-Newtonian fluids like mud or lava.
