Poiseuille flow
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008006
The laminar flow of an incompressible Newtonian fluid through a long cylindrical pipe or channel under a constant pressure gradient. This type of flow is characterized by a parabolic velocity profile, with the maximum velocity at the center and zero velocity at the pipe walls. It is governed by Poiseuille's Law, which relates flow rate to pressure drop, fluid viscosity, and pipe dimensions.
