Total head line

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009714

A line on a graph representing the total mechanical energy per unit weight of a fluid in motion, which is the sum of its elevation head, pressure head, and velocity head. In atmospheric science, this concept is applied to air parcels, where the total head represents the sum of geopotential height and kinetic energy. For frictionless, steady flow, the total head remains constant along a streamline according to Bernoulli's principle.
