Velocity head

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009967

A component of total fluid head that represents the kinetic energy of a moving fluid per unit weight. It is calculated as the square of the fluid's velocity divided by twice the acceleration due to gravity. In meteorology, this concept is relevant in understanding the dynamic pressure exerted by wind on structures or in fluid flow problems.
