Total ozone

The integrated amount of ozone present in a vertical column of the atmosphere, extending from the Earth's surface to the top of the atmosphere. It is typically measured in Dobson Units, where one Dobson Unit corresponds to a layer of ozone 0.01 millimeters thick at standard temperature and pressure. Satellite instruments like TOMS and OMI measure this quantity globally.
