Turbulence spectrum
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009845
A representation of how the kinetic energy of turbulence is distributed across different eddy sizes or wave numbers within a turbulent flow. It illustrates the energy cascade from larger, energy-containing eddies to smaller, dissipative eddies. The shape of the turbulence spectrum, such as the Kolmogorov -5/3 law, provides insights into the fundamental physics of atmospheric turbulence.
