Energy density spectrum
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005374
A mathematical function that describes how the total energy of a system is distributed across different frequencies or wavenumbers. In atmospheric science, it is used to analyze the distribution of kinetic energy in turbulent flows, showing which scales of motion contain the most energy. This spectrum is often plotted on a logarithmic scale.
