Power density spectrum

A mathematical function that describes how the power of a signal or time series is distributed over different frequencies. It quantifies the average power per unit of frequency. In atmospheric science, it is applied to analyze the spectral characteristics of meteorological variables like wind speed or temperature fluctuations.
