Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004727

A mathematical function that describes the contribution of different frequencies to the covariance between two time series. In atmospheric science, it quantifies how fluctuations in two variables, such as vertical velocity and temperature, covary across a range of eddy sizes or frequencies. This tool is used in micrometeorology to analyze turbulent fluxes of heat, momentum, and moisture in the atmospheric boundary layer.
