Micrometeorology
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007277
The branch of meteorology concerned with the study of atmospheric phenomena and processes on the smallest scales, from millimeters to about one kilometer in horizontal extent and lasting from seconds to an hour. It focuses on the turbulent exchanges of heat, momentum, and moisture that occur in the atmospheric boundary layer, just above the Earth's surface. Research in this field involves direct measurements of turbulent fluxes using instruments like sonic anemometers.
