Evapotron
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005493
An instrument that directly measures the vertical turbulent fluxes of water vapor and sensible heat in the lower atmosphere. It operates by correlating high-frequency measurements of vertical wind velocity with simultaneous measurements of humidity and temperature fluctuations. The evapotron was an early type of eddy covariance instrument, preceding the widespread use of sonic anemometers for similar flux measurements.
