Surface renewal model
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009444
A conceptual model used to describe turbulent transport processes, particularly for heat and mass exchange at an interface, such as between the atmosphere and a water body or vegetation canopy. It posits that fluid parcels at the surface are periodically replaced by parcels from the bulk fluid, leading to intermittent exchange. This model is often applied in micrometeorology to estimate fluxes without direct eddy covariance measurements.
