Bulk mixed layer model

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004073

A simplified conceptual model that represents a well-mixed layer of fluid, such as the oceanic mixed layer or the atmospheric boundary layer, as a single slab with uniform properties. This model assumes that turbulent mixing rapidly homogenizes properties within the layer. It is often used to study the large-scale evolution of the mixed layer depth and its interaction with the overlying fluid.
