Mixed-layer depth
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007329
The vertical extent of the atmospheric or oceanic mixed layer, characterized by relatively uniform properties due to turbulent mixing. In the atmosphere, it is often determined by the height of the lowest capping inversion or the level where turbulent kinetic energy significantly decreases. This depth can range from tens of meters to several kilometers.
