Mixed-layer evolution
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007330
The temporal changes in the depth, temperature, humidity, and pollutant concentration within the atmospheric mixed layer. This evolution is driven by surface heating, turbulence, and entrainment of air from above the mixed layer. Diurnal cycles often show a shallowing of the mixed layer at night and a deepening during the day due to solar radiation.
