Slab model

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008928

A simplified climate or atmospheric model that represents a component of the Earth system, such as the ocean or a atmospheric layer, as a horizontally uniform slab. This model type often neglects horizontal transport and focuses on vertical energy and momentum exchanges. Slab models are frequently used to study radiative forcing and climate sensitivity in a computationally efficient manner.
