Slablike motion
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008929
A conceptual model of fluid motion where a layer or parcel of air moves horizontally as a single, coherent unit without internal deformation or vertical motion. This simplification is used in certain theoretical treatments of atmospheric dynamics, such as analyzing the movement of an air mass or a frontal zone. The concept assumes that all points within the slab have the same horizontal velocity.
