Fluid parcel
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005651
An infinitesimally small, imaginary volume of fluid that maintains its identity as it moves through a larger fluid medium, without mixing with its surroundings. This conceptual element is used in fluid dynamics to analyze the motion and properties of fluids. Its properties, such as temperature and density, are assumed to be uniform throughout.
