Slab approximation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008926
A simplification used in atmospheric modeling where a layer of the atmosphere is treated as a horizontally uniform slab with constant properties. This approach reduces the complexity of calculations by neglecting vertical variations within the layer, allowing for easier analysis of radiative transfer or turbulent mixing. It is often applied in simplified climate models or boundary layer studies.
