Curtis-Godson approximation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010456
A method used in radiative transfer calculations to simplify the treatment of non-homogeneous atmospheric paths for gaseous absorption. It replaces a non-uniform path with an equivalent homogeneous path by weighting the pressure and temperature along the path. This approximation is commonly applied in atmospheric models to compute broadband radiative fluxes.
